Change From Typepad To WordPress - Easy Job?
By John Vasquez
Both Typepad and WordPress are blogging platfomrs. TP&WP give you the freedom to design any
kind of web, from your parrot's personal blog to
commercial mortgage page with 600 000 unique readers per month. Some
time ago, number of Typepad subscribers considered
jump to WP. Any idea why?
WP moved ahead of Typepad, that's the
reason! Both are customizable, but people at WP did better job in
the last few years. WP leaves the design of improvements in users' hands so public today may harness around 11 000 widgets, which are ready to
enhance any part of your site you can think about – without any
expense.
Typepad dcomment system was overwhelmed by spam;
meanwhile WordPress took over the battlefield with Akismet addon. There are
more, much more examples in favour of WP, like instinctive
implementation of multimedia. Sure, Typepad enables you to customize
your page too, but you need (not trivial) knowledge of CSS and HTML.
The main dilemma remains – is it possible to transform your blog from Typepad to WP easily? To tell the truth, SixApart Typepad
did not make it easy for you. Unfortunately, SixApart Typepad doesn't have working
export function, that would help you. Yes, fans are able to use its poor export
option, giving you different permalinks and asking for heavy manual labour to
transform your pictures. Administrators are able to try Atom exporter,
but this will transform only a limited set of your posts and no
discussion posts at all.
Today, jump from Typepad to WP is far
from being easy. Either you have to to throw away couple dozens of hours of
your valuable time to finish the move, or you have to cash out some
Typepad to Wordpress professionals...
